Crosslybot feature

Cross-posting from Telegram and Max groups and forums

The source can be not only a channel but also a Telegram or Max group — including a forum with topics. You decide which messages go further: from which topics, from whom, with or without replies — and how to credit the author.

groups as both sources and targets

Many communities live in groups rather than channels: admins post news, and members discuss it right there. Crosslybot can take posts from such groups too — Telegram and Max, including forums with topics — and send them to channels, communities and other groups.

To keep the chatter out of your targets, a group source has its own filters: only the forum topics you need, only admins’ messages, no replies. And to let readers see who wrote the post, the author’s name can be added before the text.

How it works

  1. 1

Add the bot to the group as an admin

Add @crosslybot to a Telegram group or the Crosslybot bot to a Max group and make it an administrator. If the group does not appear in your channel list, use the “Not showing?” helper.

  2. 2

Make the group the project source

In the project, choose the group as the source. For a forum, enter the IDs of the topics you need (up to 20) or turn on “Post from all topics”.

  3. 3

    Set up the message filter

“From admins only” keeps members’ messages out of your targets, “No replies” cuts off conversations. And choose how to show the author.

  4. 4

    Add targets

Any project platforms: channels, Telegram and Max groups, VK communities, OK groups. For a Telegram forum group as a target you can choose the topic to publish to.

What you get

Forum topics

A forum source can be limited to a set of topics — up to 20, the General topic counts too. Or turn on “Post from all topics”: keep in mind the plan’s post limit is used up noticeably faster.

From admins only

Only admins’ messages go to targets — members’ chatter stays in the chat. In Telegram the role is checked automatically. In Max the bot compares the author with the admin list you load with a button in the source settings.

No replies

Reply messages are not cross-posted — only standalone posts go out, while the discussions under them stay in the group.

Sender format

Show the author before the text: name, name and @username or bold name — or hide it. A message sent on behalf of a channel is signed with the channel name. Max members have no @username, so the name is shown.

Publishing to a forum topic

Is the target a Telegram forum group? Choose a topic, and posts will go there instead of the general chat.

Albums and edits

An album from a group is assembled into one post. If the author edits a message while the post is waiting to be published, the target gets the corrected version.

FAQ

Which groups can be connected as a source?

Telegram groups and supergroups (including forums with topics) and Max groups. The bot must be an administrator of the group. In Max, group messages reach the bot only after it has been made an admin.

How do I find a forum topic ID?

Open the topic in Telegram Desktop: the number after the slash in the address is the topic ID. The General topic has ID 1. Enter several topic IDs separated by commas, up to 20.

Can different topics of one forum go to different places?

Yes. Create several projects with the same source group and different topics — each with its own targets and settings. Projects with non-overlapping topics are not treated as duplicates.

How does “From admins only” work in Max?

Max events do not carry the author’s role, so the bot checks the author against the group’s admin list. Load the list with a button in the source settings and refresh it when the admins change. Until the list is loaded, the filter does not drop messages.

What does not work for group sources?

The source signature, AI error correction and the ad filter — they are available for channels only. Transferring old posts also works only for channels: from a group, new messages are published starting from the moment you set up the project.

Are messages that did not pass the group filters visible in Operations?

No. Messages filtered by topic, author or as replies are not recorded — active chats produce thousands of them. Operations shows posts that passed the group filters.

Can I publish to a group instead of a channel?

Yes. The target can be a Telegram group (with a topic for forums) or a Max group. Step-by-step instructions are in the “Repost to a Telegram group” and “Repost to a Max group” guides.
