How to Transfer Old Posts from Max to Telegram

Transfer the posts you need from Max to Telegram in a few minutes.

How to set up

1

Create an intermediate Max channel

Create a new channel in Max — it will serve as a buffer for the transfer. The name doesn't matter, and the channel can be private. You can delete it after the transfer. Note that Max has its own requirements for creating channels.

2

Add the Crosslybot Max bot to the intermediate channel

Add the Crosslybot bot in Max to the intermediate channel and make it an administrator. You don't need to create a bot of your own — if you already use Crosslybot with Max, it's the same bot you added to your other channels.

3

Create a project in Crosslybot

Open @CrosslyBot in Telegram and create a new project. Set the intermediate Max channel as the source and your Telegram channel as the target.

4

Check the reposts setting

In the project settings, make sure 'Reposts' is set to 'Process'. This is the default — it lets the bot process forwarded messages.

5

Activate the project

Enable the project so the bot starts tracking new messages in the intermediate Max channel and publishing them to Telegram.

6

Forward posts from your original channel

Go to your original Max channel and forward the posts you need to the intermediate channel. Forward strictly one post at a time, in the order you want — Crosslybot will automatically publish each of them to your Telegram channel.

FAQ

Can I transfer only selected posts?

Yes, that's the main advantage of this method. You choose exactly which posts to forward to the intermediate channel and simply skip the ones you don't need.

What about albums (several photos in one post)?

An album is forwarded as a single message. Crosslybot processes it and publishes it to Telegram as a media group (album). Make sure you forward the whole album, not individual photos.

Does the transfer use my plan's limit?

Yes, each transferred post counts as a regular publication and uses your plan's limit. Keep this in mind when planning the volume of the transfer.

Do I need to delete the intermediate channel afterwards?

It's not required, but recommended to avoid confusion. Once the transfer is complete, you no longer need the intermediate channel and can safely delete it.

What happens to text formatting?

Telegram supports formatting well, so text transfers with minimal losses. Bold, italic, links and other basic formatting are preserved.

If you started your channel on Max and decided to grow your audience on Telegram, transferring your best posts is a logical step. Crosslybot lets you automate this with a simple and reliable intermediate-channel method.

How It Works

You create an additional Max channel and connect it to Crosslybot as the source, with your Telegram channel as the target. Then you forward the posts you need from the original Max channel to the intermediate one — the bot automatically publishes each of them to Telegram.

Important Points

  • Forward one post at a time — this guarantees the correct publishing order in the Telegram channel.
  • Selective transfer — forward only the posts you really need. You don’t have to transfer everything.
  • Caption limit — Telegram allows up to 1024 characters of text on a post with media. If a Max post with media has longer text, the project’s ‘Long caption’ setting decides what to do — for example, publish the media and send the text as a separate message.
  • Plan limit — each transferred post uses your limit, just like a regular publication.
  • Intermediate channel — once the transfer is complete, you can safely delete it. Creating a channel in Max has its own requirements — see how to create a Max channel.
  • Max bot — a Max source works through the Crosslybot bot in Max: it must be an administrator of the intermediate channel. If you already use Crosslybot with Max, you have everything you need. If the channel doesn’t show up in Crosslybot, see what to do if the bot can’t see a Max channel.

This method works well for transferring both a few important posts and a significant volume of content from Max to Telegram.

Quick Alternative

If you don’t need selective transfer, use automatic post import. It transfers up to 500 of the latest posts from Max to Telegram in a couple of clicks, without an intermediate channel.
