How to Transfer Old Posts from Telegram to VK

Transfer the posts you need from Telegram to VK in a few minutes.

How to set up

1

Create an intermediate Telegram channel

Create a new Telegram channel — it will serve as a buffer for the transfer. The name doesn't matter, and the channel can be private. You can delete it after the transfer.

2

Add @CrosslyBot to the intermediate channel

Add @CrosslyBot to the intermediate channel as an administrator — this is how the bot sees new posts in it.

3

Create a project in Crosslybot

Open @CrosslyBot in Telegram and create a new project. Set the intermediate Telegram channel as the source and your VK community as the target.

4

Check the reposts setting

In the project settings, make sure 'Reposts' is set to 'Process'. This is the default — it lets the bot process forwarded messages.

5

Activate the project

Enable the project so the bot starts tracking new messages in the intermediate channel and publishing them to VK.

6

Forward posts from your original channel

Go to your original Telegram channel and forward the posts you need to the intermediate channel. Forward strictly one post at a time, in the order you want — Crosslybot will automatically publish each of them to your VK community.

FAQ

Can I transfer only selected posts?

Yes, that's the main advantage of this method. You choose exactly which posts to forward to the intermediate channel and simply skip the ones you don't need.

What about albums (several photos in one post)?

An album is forwarded as a single message. Crosslybot processes it and publishes it to VK as one post with several photos or videos. Make sure you forward the whole album.

Does the transfer use my plan's limit?

Yes, each transferred post counts as a regular publication and uses your plan's limit. Keep this in mind when planning the volume of the transfer.

Do I need to delete the intermediate channel afterwards?

It's not required, but recommended to avoid confusion. Once the transfer is complete, you no longer need the intermediate channel and can safely delete it.

Will text formatting be preserved in VK?

No. VK community posts don't support text formatting, so bold and italic are not preserved — the text is published without formatting. Links are kept as 'text (url)', and hashtags transfer as they are.

Many creators run channels on both Telegram and VK. If you want to move your best Telegram posts to a VK community — popular publications, useful materials or important announcements — Crosslybot can automate the process.

How It Works

The method is based on forwarding messages through an intermediate channel. You create an additional Telegram channel and connect it to Crosslybot as the source, with your VK community as the target. Then you forward the posts you need from the original channel to the intermediate one — the bot automatically publishes each of them on the wall of your VK community.

Important Points

  • Forward one post at a time — this guarantees the correct publishing order in the VK community.
  • Selective transfer — forward only the posts you really need. You don’t have to transfer everything.
  • Formatting — VK has no text formatting: bold and italic are removed, and links become “text (url)”.
  • Long captions — VK allows much longer posts than a Telegram media caption (1024 characters), so captions are transferred in full.
  • Plan limit — each transferred post uses your limit, just like a regular publication.
  • Intermediate channel — once the transfer is complete, you can safely delete it.

This method works both for moving a few key posts and for a large-scale content migration from Telegram to VK.

Quick Alternative

If you don’t need selective transfer, use automatic post import. Paste links to the first and last post — the bot transfers the whole range (up to 1000 posts) automatically, without an intermediate channel.
