How to Transfer Old Posts from Telegram to Max
Transfer the posts you need from Telegram to Max in a few minutes.
How to set up
Create an intermediate Telegram channel
Create a new Telegram channel — it will serve as a buffer for the transfer. The name doesn't matter, and the channel can be private. You can delete it after the transfer.
Add @CrosslyBot to the intermediate channel
Add @CrosslyBot to the intermediate channel as an administrator — this is how the bot sees new posts in it.
Create a project in Crosslybot
Open @CrosslyBot in Telegram and create a new project. Set the intermediate Telegram channel as the source and your Max channel as the target.
Check the reposts setting
In the project settings, make sure 'Reposts' is set to 'Process'. This is the default — it lets the bot process forwarded messages.
Activate the project
Enable the project so the bot starts tracking new messages in the intermediate channel and publishing them to Max.
Forward posts from your original channel
Go to your original Telegram channel and forward the posts you need to the intermediate channel. Forward strictly one post at a time, in the order you want — Crosslybot will automatically publish each of them to your Max channel.
FAQ
Can I transfer only selected posts?
Yes, that's the main advantage of this method. You choose exactly which posts to forward to the intermediate channel and simply skip the ones you don't need.
What about albums (several photos in one post)?
An album is forwarded as a single message. Crosslybot handles it just like a regular post with media. Make sure you forward the whole album, not individual photos.
Does the transfer use my plan's limit?
Yes, each transferred post counts as a regular publication and uses your plan's limit. Keep this in mind when planning the volume of the transfer.
Do I need to delete the intermediate channel afterwards?
It's not required, but recommended to avoid confusion. Once the transfer is complete, you no longer need the intermediate channel and can safely delete it.
What happens to text formatting?
Max supports bold, italic, links and quotes, so formatting is preserved. Telegram-only elements such as spoilers appear as regular text. The 1024-character caption limit is a Telegram limit and doesn't cut text on Max; if a post exceeds Max's own text limit, the project's long-text setting applies — for example, splitting it into several messages.
When moving to a new platform, you often want to keep your best content — popular posts, important announcements or useful materials from your Telegram channel. Instead of copying each post to Max by hand, Crosslybot lets you automate the process with a simple and reliable method.
How It Works
The method is based on forwarding messages through an intermediate channel. You create an additional Telegram channel and connect it to Crosslybot as the source, with your Max channel as the target. Then you forward the posts you need from the original channel to the intermediate one — the bot automatically publishes each of them to Max.
Important Points
- Forward one post at a time — this guarantees the correct publishing order in the Max channel.
- Selective transfer — forward only the posts you really need. You don’t have to transfer everything.
- Long captions — Telegram’s 1024-character limit for media captions doesn’t apply on Max, so captions aren’t cut to it. If a text exceeds Max’s own limit, the project’s long-text setting decides what to do (for example, split it into several messages).
- Plan limit — each transferred post uses your limit, just like a regular publication.
- Intermediate channel — once the transfer is complete, you can safely delete it.
This method works both for moving a few posts and for migrating a large volume of content. The key is to forward posts one after another and not rush.
Quick Alternative
If you don’t need selective transfer, use automatic post import. Paste links to the first and last post — the bot transfers the whole range (up to 1000 posts) automatically, without an intermediate channel.
