Forward percent: a portion of posts to a target
Not all posts, just a portion — a set percentage to the target.
The problem
Sometimes you don't need to send everything to a target. The main channel posts often, but a second platform doesn't need that much content — its audience is different, and the flow of posts would wear them out. Selecting posts by hand each time is inconvenient.
How Crosslybot solves it
Crosslybot can publish not all posts to a target, but a set percentage. You specify, say, 30% — and about a third of the posts goes to that platform at random, the rest are skipped.
Crosslybot can publish not all posts to a target, but a set percentage. You specify a value from 1 to 100, and the corresponding share of posts goes to the platform at random — the rest are skipped.
The percentage is configured separately for each target: 100% to one, a lighter 30% to another. This is handy when a secondary platform doesn’t need that much content or you want to run a less frequent version of the channel. The selection runs automatically, nothing needs to be marked by hand.
How to set up
Connect a project
Set up the source and target platforms in @Crosslybot.
Open the target settings
In the settings of the target you need, find the forward percent parameter.
Set the percentage
Specify a value from 1 to 100 — what share of posts will go to this target.
Publish as usual
The set share of posts goes to the target, the rest are skipped automatically.
What's inside
A lighter version of the channel
On the second platform — not the whole flow, just a portion of posts. The audience isn't overloaded.
Configured per target
The percentage is set separately for each platform — 100% to one, 30% to another, 50% to a third.
Random selection
Posts are selected randomly by the set percentage — nothing needs to be marked by hand.
Result
Each platform gets as much content as it needs. Secondary channels aren't overloaded, the selection runs itself.
FAQ
How are posts selected?
Randomly by the set percentage. At a value of 30%, about every third post goes to the target.
Can I set a different percentage for different targets?
Yes. The forward percent is configured separately for each platform.
What about a value of 100%?
At 100% all posts go to the target — this is the default value.
Does it suit a small flow of posts?
With a small number of posts the distribution can be uneven — the percentage works better on a steady flow.
